Sign the petition for an open well database, so we can all benefit from Machine Learning R&D
We (dGB Earth Sciences and PanTerra Geoconsultants BV) have started a petition to support the creation of a comprehensive, consistent, open-source well database, for the entirety of The Netherlands, so that we can all use this for Machine Learning purposes. We need your help to get this on the agenda of the Dutch ministry
In the Netherlands, data becomes public after five years, but the format in which it is stored is such that it is not easily accessible and can not be used effectively.
We believe that the creation of a comprehensive, consistent, open-source well database will:
- Stimulate Machine Learning R&D worldwide - Reduce economic risks of geothermal and oil & gas projects - Provide a cloud-based, modern database for academic and educational purposes - Add value to The Netherlands’ well database - Increase the safety and speed of drilling operations - Reduce uncertainties in reservoir / aquifer predictions - Improve the constraints for fracture modeling
