Stratigraphic diffraction imaging - Combining high-resolution imaging with advanced interpretation technology

Together with Moser Geophyscial Services we are offering diffraction imaging (DI).

One of our focus areas is stratigraphic diffraction imaging. The example shows the DI response of channel complexes compared with standard pre-stack depth migration (PSDM) . Channel edges produce edge diffracted waves that tune with each other as the channel narrows. In this way very narrow channel features are imaged, and it is possible to decompose a channel complex into elementary channels. The diffraction response can be modeled for validation. Another application is to distinguish stringer sands from massive sands.

In OpendTect, we can track the channel features in the 3D diffraction image using the Thalweg tracker and then identify all such features within a given volume using our Machine Learning plugin, as explained in this webinar: https://lnkd.in/dssAisX
