What happened to the OpendTect Developers Mailing List?

The OpendTect Developers Google Group is the new Developers Mailing List. The old Developers Mailing List has been disbanded. The archives however can still be browsed here.

How can I post to the OpendTect Developers Google Group?

To post on this group you have to be a member. If you are a member then there a two ways you can post to the group:

  • Go to the OpendTect Developers Google Group, log in with your Google account and click on button "new topic"
  • Send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. (a Google account is not necessary).
I have posted to the OpendTect Developers Google Group, but I do not see my post on the Google Group nor have I received an email from the Google Group.

The Google Group(mildly) moderated, to keep off not only spam, but also messages that ask for simple support. Hence somebody of the OpendTect Google Group Moderation team will approve or decline your post. When your post has been accepted you will see the post on the Google Group and should receive the post as an email from This email address is being protected from spambots.   • Go to OpendTect Developers Google Group, log in with your Google account and click on button "join this group"

What are the exact steps I need to take to become member of the OpendTect Developers Google Group?

Follow the steps below:

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. that starts with subject: "Join request for developers". This email might initially end up in your junk or spam folder
  • Open the email and click on the button "Join This Group"
  • In a new browser window you will see the "subscribe to group developers" form
  • Fill in your email address and the two captcha words
  • Then click the subscribe button
  • You should receive a confirmation email in your inbox from This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the subject "confirm your subscription". This email might initially end up in your junk or spam folder
  • Click the "Join This Group" button
  • In a new browser window you will see a message that tells you that you have successfully subscribed to the OpendTect Developers Google Group.
I do not get any emails from OpendTect Developers Google Groups when I try to become a member or post

There is a chance that some of the OpendTect Developers Google Groups emails initially end up in your Junk or Spam folder of your email client. Please take a look in that folder and tell your client that it's a known sender and/or a safe message.
